Hills’ Bakery Centenary Celebrations

All of us here at Hills’ Bakery were very proud to be part of this momentous year. It was a fabulous achievement to reach 100 years of trading and we celebrated in style throughout 2012!

We kicked off on 6th February, (third generation Geoff Hill’s 75th birthday!) with a gathering outside the Bakery to launch the centenary logo for the window. Local councillors and tradespeople joined in the fun.

April saw the Titanic anniversary where we displayed artefacts and family heirlooms dating back to 1912 in the window.

In October we formally recognised our success with a large party at our local assembly rooms. We offered a traditional afternoon tea, opportunities to see the Bakers at work, with children decorating their own GingerBread men plus a stall selling our best sellers and traditional recipes from 1912 onwards.

We had a large family history display that Sheila Hill (third generation) put together. This proved to be a big hit. We were supported by over two hundred local customers and wellwishers along with the Mayoress of Trafford and local celebrities.

It was a fantastic year and encouraged us to forge ahead into the next 100 years!
