A family run bakery

Hills’ bakery has been selling cakes, pastries, and artisan breads in the area since its foundation in 1912. A family run bakery, based in Hale and currently in its 4th generation, the Hill family firmly believe in using the very best ingredients available, supporting local and regional suppliers and providing customers with the highest quality products possible.

All our products are freshly baked each morning by our skilled bakers and confectioners. Our Artisan breads are traditionally made with no additives or preservatives, and we offer regular specials which include date & walnut, olive, high fibre and, in the autumn, pumpkin bread.

All breads can be sliced on our bread slicer from Italy.

In addition to longstanding favourites such as shortbread, parkin, tea bread and chelsea buns (created by Mary Helen), we now offer gourmet sandwiches, freshly made every day; delicious confectionery made on the premises; toasties; fresh cream cakes; and coffee from the famous swiss brand Nespresso.

We celebrated our centenary in 2012

We celebrated in style throughout our centenary year in 2012 which culminated in a large party with over two hundred avid customers and friends at our local assembly rooms. We offered a traditional afternoon tea, opportunities to see the Bakers at work, with children decorating their own Gingerbread men plus a stall selling our best sellers and traditional recipes from 1912 onwards!

We were thrilled to be awarded the Centenary Trading Award by the Court Leet of Altrincham to mark our 100th birthday.

So, whether you visit us first thing in the morning for croissants, coffee and bacon barms, lunchtime for a gourmet sandwich soup or pasties, or in the afternoon for your favourite cake, loaf of bread and pie we will always be pleased to see you.

We open daily.
